The 2025 Tribomechadynamics Conference will be held from August 25-27, 2025, in Stuttgart Germany!
The Schedule is now available!
Important last minute details: the conference will start at 8:45 am Monday, August 25. The conference venue is the Institute for Statics and Dynamics of Aerospace Structures, which can be found here:

We are excited to announce the three keynote speakers for the 2025 conference:
Alice Cicirello, University of Cambridge
David Nowell, Imperial College London
Pascal Reuß, Mercedes-Benz AG
We are also excited and grateful to announce that this year the conference will be sponsored by Polytec GmbH. As the cost of hosting the conference is significantly higher in Stuttgart, Polytec GmbH’s sponrsorship will allow us to keep the registration fee to $125.
The Tribomechadynamics Conference is hosted every odd year as the conclusion of the summer of Tribomechadynamics. The Tribomechadynamics Conference is organized into four tracks:
- Tribology
- Contact Mechanics
- Structural/Nonlinear Dynamics
- Multidisciplinary Research
The fourth track, multidisciplinary research, is intended to highlight research projects that span Tribology, Contact Mechanics, and Dynamics (i.e. research that can be categorized as Tribomechadynamics). While the major thrust of the conference comes from the study of interfaces and jointed structures, all researchers in these fields are welcome to and encouraged to submit an abstract and to attend.
Important Dates
The important dates for the conference are, tentatively:
Acceptance notification by May 15th, 2025
Full Papers due August 1st, 2025 (student paper competition submissions)
Extended Abstracts due August 15th, 2025 (non-student paper competition submissions)
Registration deadline (for the advanced registration rate) is August 18th, 2025
Conference dates are August 25th through 27th, 2025.
Abstract/Paper Formatting
There is no required format for the extended abstracts or student competition papers. Please submit these as PDFs.
Conference Venue
The Tribomechadynamics 2025 Conference will be held at the University of Stuttgart in Stuttgart, Germany in the Institute for Statics and Dynamics of Aerospace Structures:

Proceedings
Extended abstracts will be made available to participants of the conference. In addition, we are working to have the top presentations and winners of the student paper competition published in a special issue of a journal.
Student Paper Competition
All papers with a student as the first author are eligible for the student paper competition. The winning entries (as judged by a panel of reviewers in advance of the conference) will be asked to give the student plenary talk as their presentation during the conference. More information will be made available soon.
Hotel and Travel Information
The Tribomechadynamics 2025 Conference will be held at the International Meeting Center (IBZ) of the University of Stuttgart. The IBZ is located Robert-Leicht-Straße 161, 70569 Stuttgart. It is in walking distance (~550 meters) from the local train station (S-Bahn, stop “Universität”), which provides service to/from Stuttgart Central Station via the train lines S1, S2 and S3 (ca. 11 minutes), and to/from Stuttgart Airport (STR) via train line S2 (ca. 17 minutes).
The hotel “Römerhof” located Robert-Leicht-Straße 93, 70563 Stuttgart is in walking distance from the IBZ (~750 meters). The hotel “the niu, Kettle” located Kupferstraße 3, 70565 Stuttgart is easily reached via bus line 82. There are many more hotel options in the district Stuttgart-Vaihingen, and no specific hotel contingent was reserved. Staying at a hotel in the Stuttgart city center is not recommended due to recent construction temporarily suspending the local train lines between the city center and university (the S1-S3 lines). Instead, travel from the Stuttgart Central Station to the university is currently by bus.
Other Information of Interest
For those of you traveling from overseas, the conference has been timed such that you can also attend the International Conference on Experimental Continuation in Nonlinear Dynamics (XCON), hosted by Ghislain Raze and Gaetan Kerschen in Liege, Belgium from August 28-29.
